Set in Annalong, this project looked at utilising natural resources for a local business, in this case, a seaweed Bath House. The site was based around a pre-existing pedestrian bridge crossing the Annalong River, which feeds into Cornmill Quay.
Approaching this project from the point of wishing to create a space where one could linger, the bridge became the focal point. Creating seating that did not appear obvious, subtly bring people closer towards the water, while also leaving the bathhouse somewhat concealed.
Further, the railing around the edges became a concern and was resolved with a low but very deep wall that people could also sit upon.
Internally dark, enclosed spaces using long strip windows at floor level and black slate clad walls were envisioned to create introverted and private spaces, thus materially and spatially juxtaposing the two spaces.
