Set on the borders of the River Foyle, Derry/Londonderry, the site offers wide views, yet with them comes a less welcome exposure to the elements.

This coupled with a somewhat open brief, to assess and develop what we perceived as what was needed, meant the project sat less comfortably than others.

And yet the essence of the project is there, clear and well thought out, only lacking in complete detail. The scale of the project led it to become focused on massing and organisation, with considerations in providing protection from the harsh winds, while still allowing for free external public spaces.

The resulting multifunction bus station, or transport hub, starts to bring an urban language to the site, ready to be populated - however, always aware of the complexities of inorganic urban developments, concerns over the feasibility of populating the site, with actual people, remained.
